Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr. is the oldest son of Carol Newcomb Martineau and Alexander Rae Baldwin, Jr., a teacher and football coach.

He went to Alfred G. Berner High School in Massapequa, where he was a football team member under coach Bob Reifsnyder.
