TCS hired 43,000 freshers in the first half of FY22 and expected to employ another 35,000 in the second half

During the September quarter, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hired 19,690 people, bringing its total headcount to 528,748. Its headcount had surpassed the 5 lakh level in April-June.
Tata Consultancy Services, India’s largest IT services firm, said it hired 43,000 freshers in the first six months of the fiscal year, the most in the period so far, and that it would hire another 35,000 freshers throughout the year to meet the growing demand for executing projects it has won from global customers.

On Friday, the firm said that it had hired 19,690 new employees in the preceding quarter, bringing its total staff to 528,748. The firm surpassed the 5 lakh employee threshold in the previous quarter. Women currently make up 36.2 percent of the overall workforce.
TCS NSE 1.10 percent said its attrition rate is 11.9 percent, the lowest in the IT sector. It can retain talent in an era when firms in India and worldwide are battling to maintain and employ skilled individuals to meet rising demand.
“In more ways than one, this has been a rewarding quarter. In the previous six months, we hired a record amount of 43,000 new graduates. We were able to expedite their deployment thanks to our Shift-Left training technique greatly. “Investing in our talent pipeline ahead of time has helped us overcome supply-side difficulties and fulfill the execution timeframes of our client’s growth and transformation initiatives,” said Milind Lakkad, Tata Consultancy Services’ chief HR officer.
“By concentrating on organic talent development and tying learning to careers, we have maintained high levels of employee satisfaction. Simultaneously, we’re expanding programs like Contextual Masters and Elevate to prepare G&T executives for tomorrow’s workforce,” he added.

According to Lakkad, 70% of its staff are now wholly vaccinated, with almost 95% receiving at least one shot. “By the end of the year, we want to have our whole team back in the office,” he added.

By the end of September 2021, the business claimed to have educated over 417,000 personnel in next-generation technologies and recognized over 26,000 contextual masters.
