UAE will lift travel restrictions on fully vaccinated Indian passengers starting September 12

UAE will lift travel restrictions

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that it will lift travel restrictions for residents who have been fully immunized. This is subject to approval by the World Health Organization. It has also allowed Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Namibia, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa, Nigeria, and Afghanistan to fly into the UAE from September 12.
UAE announced that it would resume tourist visas for fully-vaccinated travelers a week ago. This comes as the daily rate of positive cases in the country continues to fall, dropping below 1,000 since last week. The world’s highest vaccination rate, at 92 per cent, was close to being reached after Malta.
Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship and National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) jointly announced that all people who have been vaccinated by the World Health Organization (WHO) would be eligible for tourist visas.
WAM, the UAE’s official news agency, stated that the UAE’s strategy is to balance public health with vital sector activities and support national efforts to achieve sustained recovery and economic growth.
Travelers who want to enjoy the same benefits as those vaccinated in Abu Dhabi can register via the ICA platform or Al Hosn.
As of June 3, the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines include AstraZeneca/Oxford/CoviShield, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer/BioNTech, Sinopharm and Sinovac. In addition, WAM stated that all tourists arriving on tourist visas should undergo a mandatory PCR test at their airport.
According to Gulf News, despite an entry ban, India remained Dubai International Airport’s top destination by traffic volume for the first half of 2021, with passengers exceeding 1.9million. Emirates airlines remain the preferred choice for Indians travelling to the USA and Canada, and Dubai is an ideal place to transit.
Indians who travel to Dubai/ UAE for business purposes are considered business travelers, as the tourist visa facility was not available earlier. However, in March this year, the UAE Cabinet approved a 5-year multi-entry tourist visa that all nationalities could use.
The tourist visa can be granted for 30 days or 90 days. Visas for Indian citizens who have valid visas from the USA or UK may also be granted upon arrival.
